Final Quests (Mage)

Final Quests are the most demanding content in the game — long quest chains requiring Mage-tier abilities, cross-guild cooperation, and combat against elite NPC opponents. There are 3 Final Quests, and all must be completed to unlock the Fifth Root Quest.

Final Quest 1 — The Deep Root

"Below the village, below the greenhouse, below the oldest stone — a root runs. Follow it."

Objective: Explore the underground Root Network beneath your Guild Village. Solve three environmental puzzles using your guild abilities, and defeat the Ancient Seedling — a powerful NPC Sprite boss that has gone feral without tending.

Boss: Ancient Seedling - HP: 500 - Abilities: Thorn Barrage (30 dmg, 3-hit), Overgrowth (Rooted + Weakened on target), Regen (heals 20 HP/turn) - Weakness: Fire abilities deal ×1.5 damage; Water abilities do ×0.7

Reward: 350 XP, Aether Stone Pendant (Accessory), unlock of Mage-exclusive area in the map

Final Quest 2 — The Counsel of Ancients

"The Tree remembers. Speak to those who were there at the beginning."

Objective: Locate 4 Ancient Spirits (one in each guild territory) and answer their questions correctly (lore-based dialogue choices). Each Ancient Spirit challenges the player to a brief combat test before speaking.

Ancient Spirit Bosses: - Each has 300 HP and uses abilities from their respective guild at Mage tier. - No turns or dice — these fights play out as structured volleys (each boss uses 3 abilities in a fixed sequence; player must counter optimally).

Reward: 400 XP, Mageweave Cloak (Accessory), Ability Scroll (1 Mage ability of player's choice from their guild list)

Final Quest 3 — Guard the Flag

"The flag has fallen once. It will not fall again — not on your watch."

Objective: Lead a defense of your Guild Village in a simulated Raid scenario — a 3-wave NPC raid where the player acts as Champion Defender in all three zones.

Waves: - Wave 1: 2 NPC Warriors (each 250 HP) - Wave 2: 3 NPC Warriors (each 280 HP) — player can deploy 2 Sprites - Wave 3: 1 NPC Mage (450 HP) — final boss; uses full Mage ability kit from an opposing guild

Reward: 450 XP, Guild Points Card (Legendary), Flag Guardian Title (cosmetic badge on Character Card)

The Fifth Root Quest

"The fifth root runs deeper than the others. What lives at its end has waited for someone worthy."

Eligibility: Mage tier, all 3 Final Quests completed.

This quest is solo only. No Sprites, no allies.

Objective: Follow the Fifth Root through 5 sequential chambers, each testing a different aspect of the player:

Chamber Test Mechanic
1 — The Root of Strength Defeat an echo of yourself NPC with your exact current stats
2 — The Root of Knowledge Solve 5 lore riddles about ROOT Kingdom history Dialogue / multiple choice
3 — The Root of Bond Your Sprites appear as echoes — but you cannot deploy them; must win alone Standard battle, no Sprites
4 — The Root of Balance Fight a combined NPC drawing from all four guild ability sets Strategic counter required
5 — The Root of Aether No abilities, no items, no Sprites. HP: 100 vs HP: 100. Pure dice. Pure 1d20 vs 1d20; 5 rounds; highest total wins

Reward: 1,000 XP, Fifth Root Token (Legendary Accessory — all stats +3, Aether abilities unlocked 1 tier early for future characters), Fifth Root Title, and a unique Legendary Character Card marking completion.

Only those who complete the Fifth Root Quest may mentor others attempting it.

Weekly Challenges

In addition to the tiered quests available at each level, the ROOT Kingdom offers Weekly Challenges — recurring objectives that refresh every in-game Monday. They are designed for all tiers and provide a steady source of XP, $ROOT5, and rare materials outside the main quest lines.

How Weekly Challenges Work

Each week, the Guild Counsel announces 3 Weekly Challenges at the beginning of the in-game week. Players may attempt any number of challenges, but only the first completion of each challenge per week earns the reward.

Challenge Rotations

Weekly Challenges rotate every in-game Monday (the day after a Peaceful Period ends or after a Raid cooldown expires). The Guild Counsel may announce special bonus challenges during Peaceful Periods or in the aftermath of a successful Raid, offering double rewards for community-building objectives.

"The Tree grows one ring at a time. The Kingdom grows one week at a time." — Counsel saying## Cooperative Expeditions

Some quests are too large for a single player. Cooperative Expeditions are designed for groups of 2–3 players, scaling difficulty and rewards by party size. They offer an alternative path to Rare accessories, Ability Scrolls, and larger $ROOT5 payouts — for those willing to share the glory.

Expedition Rules

  • Party Size: 2–3 players. All members must be at the minimum tier listed for the expedition.
  • Formation: Parties register at the Guild Village's Expedition Board. Once registered, the expedition is locked to that party — no late additions.
  • Scaling: Enemy HP and number of waves scale with party size (×1.5 for duo, ×2.0 for trio).
  • Reward Splitting: XP and $ROOT5 are split equally among party members. Items and Ability Scrolls are distributed by party vote.
  • Failure: If all party members are knocked out, the expedition ends. No rewards are granted, but no penalties apply beyond standard Knockdown XP.

Available Expeditions

Expedition Tier Party Size Location Summary
The Rootweb Tunnels Warrior+ 2–3 Ground Territory caverns Clear an infestation of Aether-twisted Rootworms from a collapsed tunnel network linking Ground and Water territories
The Smoldering Ward Warrior+ 2–3 Fire Territory forge ruins Defend a Fire Guild forge team repairing an abandoned battlefield crucible; hold off 4 waves of Aether-wild Sprites
The Frozen Echo Warrior+ 2–3 Water Territory Glacial Shelf Recover three Aether crystals from a crevasse while managing shifting ice terrain and roaming Ice Wisp NPCs
The Conductive Path Warrior+ 2–3 Energy Territory storm field Activate a chain of five relay crystals across a lightning-scarred ridge before a storm surge engulfs the route

"Solo strength wins duels. Shared strength wins kingdoms." — Expedition Board inscription

Community Harvest Festival

The roots give, the roots receive. Balance in giving sustains the whole. — Ground Guild proverb

Objectives: 1. Collect the following seasonal harvest items across the territory: - 20 Rootbark pieces (Ground ability harvest) - 15 Emberfruit (Fire territory) - 12 Tideblossom (Water territory) - 8 Stormcrystal (Energy territory) Players may combine harvest abilities to gather multiple types from the same location.

  1. Return all collected items to the Guild Council Hall and deliver to the Harvest Steward.

  2. Participate in the Festival Blessing Ritual — a coordinated ability sequence where party members use their guild's elemental abilities to bless the harvested bounty.

Rewards: 225 XP split, 120 split, Harvest Badge (temporary +10% gathering efficiency for 3 days), 1 random crafting material (any common or uncommon material type), 15% chance of Tier-appropriate Ability Scroll per member.

Guild Festival Logistics

All quests during the Harvest Festival (Season of Rootbloom) follow the Community Quest designation:

  • No combat required — quests focus on gathering, crafting, and cooperation rather than combat encounters.
  • Tier restriction: Available to all tiers, but rewards scale with party tier (higher tiers receive better crafting materials).
  • Guild collaboration: Players may cooperate across guilds during Community Quests, with each guild contributing their unique harvest abilities to the shared goal.

When guilds unite, even the hardest roots can be uprooted together. — Harvest Steward saying

Quest Assignment & Generation

Quests are not randomly assigned — they are curated by the Guild Counsel and the Expedition Board to ensure each player encounters content appropriate to their tier and guild. The assignment system follows three principles:

Tier Matching: A player is only offered quests at or below their current tier. Side Quests are available from birth; Tier Quests unlock at Warrior; Final Quests unlock at Mage. The Fifth Root Quest requires all three Final Quests completed.

Guild Alignment: Quest objectives often draw on the player's guild abilities and territory. A Ground Guild player receives quests involving earth, roots, and stone; a Fire Guild player receives fire-themed objectives. Cross-guild quests exist but are rarer and typically involve cooperation between neighboring guilds.

Dynamic Scaling: Enemy HP and difficulty in Tier Quests and Final Quests scale slightly based on the player's current stats — ensuring a fair challenge without being trivially easy or impossibly hard. This scaling is transparent and visible in the quest description before acceptance.

"The Tree does not give the same branch to every Root. It knows what each needs." — Counselor's saying
